Planting Seeds of Resilience

Hi, I’m Tonya Dixon

I’m the founder of Resilient Roots Training, and I believe being trauma-informed should be more than something we talk about—it should change the way we respond to children.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, I moved to Arkansas in 2016, where I continued building my career and started my family. For almost 20 years, I have dedicated my professional life to working with children, families, and the professionals who serve them.

My journey has taken me from juvenile probation and juvenile justice to the classroom, Alternative Learning Environments (ALE), behavioral support, and professional training. Each role has given me a different perspective, but one thing has remained consistent: behavior tells us something, and the way adults respond matters.

For more than 10 years, I have provided trauma-informed training with one goal in mind—to make the information practical, relatable, and applicable. I don't believe in professional development that sounds good during the presentation but leaves you wondering what to do when you return to work.

Whether you work in education, juvenile justice, early childhood, child welfare, residential care, or another profession serving children, I tailor training to the realities of your environment.

Through Resilient Roots Training, I’m not here to provide lip service. I’m here to give professionals tools they can actually use.

Because when we change the way we understand behavior, we can change the way we respond—and that can change the trajectory of a child's life.
